Our Approach

• BabyRead’s approach is unique among other pre-literacy programs.

• Our trained and screened readers work one-on-one with families/caregivers, typically twice a month for up to one hour depending on your child’s attention span.

• Families are encouraged to read and talk with their babies every day.

• Gift cards for food or gas are provided as incentives for regular frequent reading, new families, and successful new family referrals.

• Readers demonstrate approaches for cuddling, reading, singing, reciting nursery rhymes, performing finger plays, and language development.

• A free book and healthy snacks (as desired) are given to moms/caregivers at each in-person session.

• Family readers will also provide age-appropriate books or magazines and snacks for siblings who attend reading sessions.

Our Readers

• Have a wealth of reading experience; many are former teachers and educators

• Have undergone a South Carolina background check

• Will work with you to establish a schedule & location for your family reading sessions

• Several of our readers are bi-lingual and we can provide books in English & Spanish
